The Sukla Project aims to create a sustainable waste management system in Besakih Village, Bali, by combining traditional and innovative waste management methods. It reduces waste, promotes recycling, and provides green jobs while preserving the environment through community collaboration and modern technology.
The Sukla Project was initiated to address the waste management challenges in Besakih Village, Bali, which produces 7.5 tonnes of waste per day. This project integrates conventional and non-conventional waste management techniques, including a Waste Bank approach and RDF technology, to provide economic value, reduce emissions, and foster sustainable tourism. It involves education for the local community, waste segregation, and creating marketable products from waste, such as eco-friendly items for the HORECA sector. With a goal of improving waste management to 90% from its previous 6.78%, this project aims to set an example for other Indonesian tourist destinations.
